Stéphane Gamelin
L'océano-graphiste
Born in Amiens in 1962, Stéphane Gamelin wanted to be an oceanographer.
His encounters with Cdt Cousteau, Jacques Mayol, Paul-Emile Victor, Alain Bombard, Haroun Tazieff, led him towards images, the press and advertising. He became an oceanographist.
Renowned for his creativity and style, his knowledge of boating is based on long experience. This began in the 80s as a journalist/photographer for the magazines Océans and Neptune, and continued in the 90s as art director of Yachts magazine. Then came the time for advertising, with the creation of the Bord à Bord agency, which was in charge of communications for major yachting brands throughout Europe.
For the past 20 years, his agency o2Gam has carried on his passion for images and the transcription of messages, mainly in the nautical world, for such renowned names as Canados Yachts, Regal Boats, AGL Marine, Arie de Boom, or for the Mandelieu-la-Napoule Boat Show, for which he was in charge of bilboards and communication from 2010 to 2017. From 2018 to 2019, Freedom Boat Club, the largest American boat club, entrusted him with the development of its image in Europe.
His knowledge of the press and page layout enables him to extract exclusive images from his shots, at sea or by helicopter, for high-performance communication campaigns.
Signing the billboard for the Voiles d'Antibes 2018 and 2022, he has since begun photographic work on classic sails, and he has just published a book, "le Premier Plongeur", retracing the life of Frédéric Dumas, Commandant Cousteau's adventure companion.
He is a member of the Académie des Arts et Sciences de la Mer, in the photography section.
